Criteria & Selection

One of the biggest dangers for volunteer sending agencies are volunteers who are more attracted to travel than the opportunity to make an impact. The one critical thing we’re looking for in volunteers is a real desire to make a positive impact on the world.

An ideal candidate for the volunteering program will have an innate drive and sense of initiative. Oftentimes your days will not be as structured as they would be in a job here in Ireland, so we look for volunteers who can take any spare time they have and make something useful of it, say put on an evening debating class for local school children, design some educational posters for the children’s home, etc.

We conduct interviews once all applications have been submitted and reviewed. The interview usually takes about 15 minutes. Enthusiasm, sincerity and drive are all you really need (a bit of craic is no harm!).
