Hell and Back 2016

On a bitter, crisp and Baltic Saturday morning, members of the Draiocht family embarked on a journey to the Sugarloaf Mountains in Co. Wicklow to take on Ireland’s toughest mental & physical endurance challenge, Hell and Back. Such a challenge is not for the faint hearted. The 15km obstacle course includes a run through mud, woodland, ice-cold streams, pellet-gun-fire, electric shock gauntlets, steep mountain terrain and some of the stiffest swamps, putting each participant into their mental and physical limit that they can endure. Endeavours through the tortuous pathway has seen “Hell Raisers” raise more than €500,000 for their chosen charities, with Draiocht taking the opportunity to collect much needed funds for our two projects; TEAM Nepal and The Olive Branch for Children in Tanzania. With each participant raising over €100 each, the group successfully raised over €2,500 in much needed funds. As regards the course itself, the group were battered, bruised and brown from their excursions but everyone made it home safe and sound. Upon return to Galway, the group kept the celebration and good feeling going with some much needed refreshments in Biteclub. Thanks to all who contributed to the day out, including the staff at Hell and Back and Biteclub, the sponsors for their generosity and, of course, the participants for their endeavour!
